Energy gummies vs. coffee vs. energy drinks: an honest comparison
We make energy gummies, so you'd expect us to say they win. They don't win everything. Here is how the three stack up on the things that matter day to day.
Caffeine: how much, and do you know?
A home-brewed cup of coffee has roughly 95 mg of caffeine, but it varies a lot with the beans, the brew and the size of your mug. An 8.4 fl oz energy drink has about 80 mg, printed on the can. A Norda gummy has exactly 50 mg, so one is half a cup and two are a full one. If you like knowing your dose, labeled products have the edge over a free-poured coffee.
Sugar
Black coffee has none. A flavored latte can have a lot. A regular 8.4 fl oz energy drink has around 27 grams. Two Norda gummies have about 2 grams. That matters because sugar does not give you energy in the way it feels like it should: a review of 31 studies found more fatigue within an hour of a sugar hit, not less.
Cost
The median cafe coffee in the US was $3.61 at the end of 2025. An energy drink runs from about $2.25. A serving of Norda on subscription is about a dollar. Coffee you brew at home is cheaper than all of them.
Convenience
Coffee needs a machine or a queue, and it goes cold. A can needs a fridge to be pleasant. A gummy needs a pocket. For commutes, gym bags and back-to-back meetings, chewable wins easily.
When coffee is the better choice
If coffee is a ritual you enjoy, keep it. A good cup on a slow morning is one of life's small pleasures, and a gummy isn't trying to replace that. Where a gummy shines is the unplanned moment: the afternoon dip, the pre-workout, the day when the mug never made it past the first sip.
The bottom line
All three deliver the same active ingredient. The differences are dose control, sugar, price and how much effort it takes. Pick the one that fits the moment, and keep your total caffeine under about 400 mg a day.
